Despoina grew up in Rhodes, Greece. She moved to Athens to study Law. She also has a degree from New York College of Athens on Film and TV Studies. Her student film “The Doll”, participated in the Competition of Greek Short Films at the 20th Athens International Film Festival Premiere Nights (AIFF). «Ourania», her second short participated this year’s in 40th Drama International Short Film Festival(Best Female Director, Actress in a Leading Role, Greek Film Center Award, Best Movie Award from the Greek Association of Film Critics) and at the 23rd Athens International Film Festival (AIFF)(Award for Best Screenplay). Her second short film «Ourania» also participated in 48th Thessaloniki International Film Festival..
